The Dyness Tower BDU S3 is the control unit (Battery Disconnect Unit) of the Dyness Tower S3 TS7 to TS21. The BDU sits on top of the stacked Dyness HV9637S modules and contains the battery management, the DC main breaker with short-circuit protection, the wake button, the external positive and negative sockets, an RJ45 port for CAN/RS485 to the inverter, two parallel ports (Parallel 1# and 2#) for multi-cluster systems, a Wi-Fi status light and a Wi-Fi antenna.

Every tower needs exactly one BDU S3; the capacity is in the 2 to 6 HV9637S modules (7.10 to 21.31 kWh). With communication to the inverter the Tower S3 charges and discharges continuously at 0.6C. IP54 applies to the complete tower.
Dyness states that Tower S3 and the classic Tower must not be mixed: this BDU belongs only with the HV9637S, not with the classic HV9637 or the Tower Pro HV9640. Up to 12 Tower S3 clusters of the same model and capacity can run in parallel; a new cluster must be added within 6 months of the existing one.
