Overview
The Sungrow SMR032 is a single 3.2 kWh battery module (LiFePO4, prismatic cells, 33 kg) for the Sungrow SBR high-voltage battery. An SBR system consists of 2 to 8 modules in series on one base, completed once per stack by a base, a top cover and the BMS switch gear (Sungrow SMRAcc): from SBR064 (2 modules plus one empty module, 6.4 kWh) to SBR256 (8 modules, 25.6 kWh). The modules stack without cables between them; all electrical terminals are on the switch gear.

Each system allows up to 30 A continuous charge and discharge (SBR064 on an SH-RT: 20 A), up to 100 % usable capacity (DoD settable), CAN communication with the inverter and IP55 for indoor and outdoor use. A module measures 625 x 330 mm (W x D) and adds 130 mm to the stack height. Sungrow lists the SH3.0-6.0RS (SBR064 to SBR192), the SH5.0-10RT and SH5.0-10RT-20 (SBR064 to SBR256) and the SH15T, SH20T and SH25T (SBR096 to SBR256); check the firmware versions in the inverter manual.
Expanding an existing system is only done in consultation with Sungrow and following the Sungrow procedure. According to the Sungrow compatibility list (version 4.4, July 2026) one tower is allowed on the SH-RS and SH-RT; on the SH15T, SH20T and SH25T two towers of equal capacity can be connected with Y connectors (up to 51.2 kWh, not in the DACH region). According to the same list this module (Sungrow article ASA00460, version V13) can be combined with SMR032 modules of versions V114 and V12; the SMR025 modules of the SBR050-100 do not fit.
